Tadina fine wood sculptures start with a concept...a model ...a photograph and then the process of transferring all these essential pieces of the concept to the raw wood begins.

The process begins with the chainsaw to cut the outline and some of the angles and then moves onto the carving tools to finish the rough in of the piece. Next there is lots and lots of sanding ending with sanding sponges. This is when the luster of the sculpture is created that people seem to love to touch. There is a smoothness of the wood sculpture that leads an individual into feeling the contour that awakens the senses. The wood sculpture is finished with a clear polyurethane finish applied with a brush and is immediately rubbed with a cotton cloth so the piece is not too shiny. This is the process that shows clear definition and awakens the colors the wood evokes.

Some of Tadina Sculptures are created with black and paradox walnut which has come from Cleek Orchards. Tadina Sculptures also uses other woods from a variety of places.

The touch of the wood and the feel of the curves draw the hand to a enticing experience of feel and movement as it flows along the lines of the wood sculpture.

Larry Tadina started sculpting with woods in 1980.

I have blocks of wood in my kitchen and the unfinished pieces are around the house so I can study what needs to happen next. Many of the poses are from seeing a certain movement.
